Principal's Message

Principal Horacio Perez

Welcome to Vail High School Academic Year 2017-18.  At Vail we believe in creating Trusting Student Relationships and crafting Rigorous Instruction based on Relevant Curriculum.

Vail High School is committed to providing a safe and intellectually challenging environment that will empower students to become critical thinkers, creative problem solvers, collaborators, and effective communicators to thrive into the 21st Century.  Providing instruction and curriculum based on Common Core State Standards.    To continue to embolden relationships based on respect, honor, and citizenship.

Parents and students please sign up and use Vail High School’s School Loop found on our Home Page.  School Loop provides student grades and gives updated information regarding your children’s performance on their classwork, a test, or quiz.  Your interest and concern in your children’s school progress will motivate them to do their best.  Ask your children specific questions about their time at school and time management.  Your relationship and time spent with your children is the most important part of their day.

Vail High School provides our students ELAC (East Los Angeles Community College) courses after school for free.  Classes are per Semester.  Students who pass their classes earn 10 high school credits and 3 college credits.  Students should also take advantage of ROP classes, Grad Point classes, and Intervention classes after school.  All classes earn high school credits.  Please feel free to call us for more information.

Parents, encourage your child to join one of many clubs we have at Vail:  Associated Student Body (ASB), Chess Club, Gay Straight Alliance (G.S.A.), Lunchtime Basketball, Garden Club, M.E.C.H.A, or Gamers Club.  Vail provides great opportunities for our students to become part of something greater than themselves.

I am looking forward to a positive, upbeat school year at Vail High School.  I encourage all students to connect with our school; stand up to mistreatment, vandalism, and to anything you know is not right. Remind yourself you do not have to follow the crowd.  Be yourself even when no one is watching.  Do the right thing.

Parents, please help us by reinforcing school expectations at home. With your help, Vail will continue to be a school community in which every person feels respected, valued, and is encouraged and challenged to achieve at the highest levels.

I am excited for the opportunity to work with you and your child to provide a safe and productive learning environment that supports student success that will lead to a High School Diploma and beyond.  Once again, welcome to Vail High School! I am honored to serve as your Principal.

With respect,

Horacio Perez
